Held in Shanghai, these events help to raise
funds and also raise CMF's profile in Shanghai.
In 2002 CMF organized "A French Night" at
Xintiandi with a French dinner, an auction and a variety show.
In 2003 CMF put on "Salsa in Shanghai" with a
Latin American buffet dinner, Salsa performances and music by

in 1920's in the Art Deco style, the Paramount was recently
refurbished to its former glory. The Austrian Consul General, Mr.
Walter Kaltheis invited Mrs. Ina Chou to the opening waltz. The
Dance Festival was very successful as a fund raiser and as a highly
enjoyable event by all those who attended.

The first charity walk was organized in cooperation
with the Success family of AIA in 2000. Over 400 agents, their
families and friends took part and over HKD1 million was raised.

Chinese New Year Celebrations at Xiehe
Bilingual School
There was joyous celebration at the Xiehe Bilingual
School in Shanghai on 16 January, 2004. Pupils, parents and staff
dressed in traditional Chinese dress and watched the dragon dancing
and fireworks display to welcome the year of the Monkey.
Xiehe Bilingual School also helped Children's Medical Foundation (CMF)
by raising RMB$3500 by placing donations in the CMF
donation box. The box was placed at the school during Christmas.
A presentation check was made by Trevor Higginbottom, the
Headmaster of the school to Ria Hueber. Afterwards, the Chinese
New Year Celebrations continued with music performances from
students from the Shanghai Music School.

Since its establishment in 1997, Children's Medical Foundation has worked to publicize Shanghai Children's
Medical Center. Our activities include organizing a number of
visits to SCMC. Some of these were donor recognition
ceremonies while others were to acquaint donors with SCMC.
Donor Events
In April 1997, Children's Medical Foundation organized
the visit to the then uncompleted SCMC by the management of
Rockwell. This was followed in September 1997 by a visit by
John Stafford, CEO of American Home Products.
To mark the arrival of the first container
of medical equipment to SCMC in May 1998, we organized a
ceremony to thank Orient Overseas Container Line for providing
free container shipping of medical equipment from the US to
Shanghai. A total of 40 containers of medical equipment were
shipped.
In June 1998, we organized the opening of
SCMC by Hillary Rodham Clinton during the presidential visit
to China. The occasion was also attended by a delegation from
the US Congress including Senator John D. Rockefeller IV. A
total of 75 donor companies were represented by their
Regional Directors.
Visits were organized for Jack Welch, Chairman
of General Electric, Maurice Greenberg of AIG, Phil Condit of
Boeing, Michael Eskew of UPS, journalists and congressional aides.
